Seed for Certified Seed Production
Introduction
Availability of quality seed at right time is one of the major constraints in majority of the cultivated agricultural crops. It is same in case of sunflower, castor and safflower. Quality seed alone can increase the production by 25%. For good foundation or certified seed, pure breeder seed is highly essential. Quality seed is very important not only to higher yield but also to get high monetary returns.
Application
These seeds can be used by public, private seed-producting agencies and progressive farmers. The end-product will be the certified seed which can be sold to farmers.
Process
The various steps adopted in the production of certified seed are: sowing in isolation, maintaining recommended female : male ratio, fertilizer and pesticides application and rouging.
