Polymeric Seed Coats
Introduction
Azadirchtin based Polymeric Seed Coats, dressing materials have been developed for seed protection. Such seed coats act as a barrier to moisture, reduce proliferation of storage fungi and prevent deterioration of seeds during storage powder or flowable slurry improve storability, germination, viability, plantability of seed and/or vigor of plant under Indian Patent application 1746/DEL/2006.
Features
Seed coats based on botanical pesticide will help in:
Improving germination, viability, plantability of a seed.
Vigour of an agronomic plant that is grown from a treated seed that is planted in a pest infested location.
Preventing the fungal/nematode/insect infestation that is a pest for the agronomic plant and against which a meliacin compound has bioactivity
Advantages
Improves the efficiency of the production products, allowing on excellent covering and adhesion of the active ingredients on the seed.
Improve the sowing process.
Improves the safety in the use when creating a barrier between the skin of the operator and the product, eliminating the dangers related with the treatment, packing and sowing of the seed.
Reduces the dust of the products.
Provides a way of carrying fungicides, pesticides, biological products and micronutrients.
Bitter retention of the treatment strong. Adherence to the surface of the seed, leaving fewer pesticides residues.
Protects the seed against mechanical damages.
Helps to protect seeds stored under conditions of high moisture.
Improves the appearance of the seed, with attractive colours that can identify.
