Polyol Esters

Introduction

Useful as basestocks for several applications like refrigeration and hydraulic fluids

Salient Technical Features

•  Karanja/ jatropha oil is split with water and glycerine is separated. Fatty acids are esterified with polyhydric alcohols like trimethylilpropane (TMP), neopentylglycol (NPG) and pentaerythritol (PE) to get corresponding polyol esters

Scale of implementation

•  1 Kg fatty acid/batch

Major Raw Materials

•  10-Undecenoic acid, undecanoic acid, karanja and jatropha oil fatty acids and polyols

Techno-Economics and Competitiveness

•  10-Undecenoic acid, undecanoic acid, karanja and jatropha oil fatty acids and polyols
