Visbreaking of Petroleum residual fractions soaker mode
Description
Visbreaking of Petroleum residues is done by mild thermal cracking for production of fuel oil with reduction of viscosity, improved pour point & stability and for up-gradation of residual fractions
Salient Features
-
Soaker visbreaking requires smaller furnace and less waste heat recovery equipment leading to a capital saving of 10-15 percent
Fuel consumption in case of soaker visbreaking is approx 15 percent ower than that for coil visbreaking
Increased cycle length
To upgrade soaker visbreaking technology by providing internals in soaker drum
Commercialization:
-
Jointly developed by EIL and commercialized in IOC, Gujarat (Revamp), in 1982. Commercialized in IOC, Mathura (revamp); IOC, Haldia (Revamp); CPCL, Chennai (Revamp) KRL, Kochi; IOC Panipat, HPCL, Vizag.
Recently, HPCL-Vizag has approved the licensing of the revamp of their Visbreaking unit which involves design, fabrication and installation of internals inside the soaker drum
