Delayed coking of petroleum residues is done for production of Metallurgical grade petroleum coke lighter fractions and up-gradation of residual fractions :

 

Salient Features

  1. •  Long residue and short residues can be used in the process

    •  Indigenous/ globally competitive technology

 

Commercialization:

  1. •  This technology was developed by CSIR-IIP in collaboration with EIL in 1999

    •  Technology based on AR which was commercialized in BRPL, Bongaigaon in 1977.

    •  Technology based on VR was commercialized in NRL, Numaligarh in 1999.
