Clinical and Immunochemical Kits
Introduction
The basic requirement in clinical diagnosis is to analyse specific assays which help both identification of serum sample components and their concentration levels. The techniques in clinical diagnosis have undergone a significant advance in the past few decades and as a result , the ready to use, standardised kits have been developed. These kits are more advantageous and most convenient to use instead of depending on the pathological laboratories which takes a long time for providing result. Moreover , these clinical and pathological laboratories is too, been looking for a simplified and convenient method of diagnosis, which can give accurate result.
Another major disadvantage of these laboratories is that they are situated with varying degrees of facilities, only in big cities and towns and are not accessible to the people who are living in far away remote places particularly in rural area.
Advances in enzyme and immunochemical assay techniques provide ideal systems for component analysis in biological fluids like serum, urine etc. Development of auto-analysers and the enzyme kits for use in autoanalysers have helped in simultaneous analysis of a large number of samples. These new instruments and technologies are used by a number of pathological laboratories in big cities. Immuno-chemical assays have edge over the Radio-immunoassays because of their simplicity, sensitivity and specificity. Use of dry reagents offers more convenience since the analysis is rapid, reagents are stable, storage is simple. Enzyme immobilisation technique have made it possible not only to stabilise the activity of the sensor but also to extend its life time. These advances are utilised in the development of technology for manufacture of diagnostic kits under different phases.
