Introduction

This bioreactor (3 litre capacity) is suitable for hydrolysis of lactose in milk and whey or any other lactose containing solution. Continuous operation of this equipment is based on the incorporation and retention of immobilized galactosidase enzyme. The bioreactor can be operated over a temperature range of 10-60oC depending on the optimum temperature of the immobilized enzyme. The treatment capacity of the bioreactor can be further scaled-up for industrial purpose.
