Technology Description

Our technology at core is for delivering vaccine by selfadministration and for eliminating the requirement of cold chain. We have developed vaccine patches based on microneedle reinforced with vaccine loaded silk nanoparticles. This technology serves best for painless epidermal vaccination, and less associated with the risk of device contamination and will guarantee patient's comfort. It provides thermal shield to the vaccine at ambient temperature and prevents it from getting denatured hence preventing bio-activities. Thus, it will help in eliminating the requirement for maintaining the vaccine at specific lower temperature (2-8˚C) and hence eliminates the dependency on cold chain maintenance. This will heavily reduce cost, ease the logistics, prevents wastage of vaccine due to thermal damage due to failure in maintenance of cold chain. Thus it will result in increasing coverage of vaccination creating huge positive impact on health, socio-economic impact and hence improving overall quality of life.

Uniqueness of our innovation lies in its frugality with following characteristics features:

1) Our technology acts as thermal shield for vaccine at ambient temperature and protects it from getting thermally damaged.

2) This will eliminates the dependency on cold chain. This in turns will prevent wastage of vaccine (75-83%) due to failure of cold chain. Also, it will save huge cost incurred maintenance of cold chain. This will as ease the logistics for vaccine transport.

3) Vaccine delivery by means of microneedles patch carries multiple advantages viz., painless drug delivery, less amount of drug is required, no dependency on trained staff etc. It carries huge advantage in vaccination of children.

4) All these factors together contributes towards making it affordable and bringing healthcare within reach of poorest of poor.
