Technology Description
Hollow fiber membrane technology is employed for O2 enrichment of air, needed in medical application (oxygen therapy) for patients suffering from respiratory diseases (asthma, COPD, neonatal, etc.). Membrane base O2 concentrator is cost effective vis-à-vis existing PSA based O2 concentrators. Since Indian & Asian cities are becoming polluted rapidly, oxygen enrichment by this route would prove highly useful in Automobile AC, Home AC & HVAC for public places (mall, multiplex, etc.) for maintaining right O2 levels to create fresh & healthy environment.
Energy saving option: Oxygen therapy (medical application) sources O2 either from cylinders or PSA/cryogenic based O2 concentrators; which supplies O2 at 100% purity. It is then diluted to ~ 35% leading to huge wastage of energy. Conversely, membrane based O2 enrichment of air elevates the O2 percent to only 35% & thus save energy. This way of enriching air can also make it affordable for maintaining right oxygen levels in cars, theaters, malls, etc.; to avoid suffocation & headache. Moreover, membranes require minimum maintenance, as only moving part is compressor. Utilizing membrane based oxygen enrichment in Automobile AC, Home AC, HVAC & Air purifier is new concepts, which can bring revolutionary change in these market segments.
