Introduction

Indian well established research and development company offers biotechnologies for aquaculture:

  • Bio-converters (fish, prawn and other culture growing under water), and
  • Pro-biotics

Bio-converters

Bio-converters is a new technology that allows to keep aquaculture ponds clean and to improve zoo plankton. Ponds used for fish or prawn farming get contaminated with, bio-mass, shells, etc. These contaminants bring down the oxygen level and produce methane, ammonia, nitrate, and H2S gases that are harmful to aquaculture and lead to various diseases. In the bio-converter technology, the degrading bacteria converts these gases into water, carbon dioxide and free Nitrogen. Some of these are consumed by zoo plankton and the rest is released into the atmospheric air. Thus bio-converters reduced pond pollution and improve zoo plankton and disease suppresser.

Bio-probiotics

Pro-biotics is one of the most important recent research developments in the field of health care. In this technology, a live microbial supplement beneficially effects most of the animals living in the water by improving their intestinal balance.

The gut is a home for many millions of bacteria and yeasts which are known as microflora. This microflora that lives in the gut plays a major role in the process of digestion of food and helps the complex substances to brake into a simpler form which can be absorbed by the body easily. Apart from improving digestion, microflora can improve disease resistance and recovery from infection, especially in the digestion tract.

A powerful spore forming bacteria acidifies the gut and therefore prevents the growth of different pathogens like clostredium, strophtocicci, eshrichia, Salmonella, and vibro sp. These bacteria are also capable of releasing enzymes such as amylase, protease and lipase in substantial quantities along with 'B' group of vitamins. This has a very positive effect on digestion of feed material.
