Manufacture of Lambda Cyhalothrin
Introduction
Prenol is reacted with triethyl ortho acetate and further reacted with 1,1,1 trifchlorotrifluroethane, which is further reacted with potassium tertiary butoxide and then hydrolysed to cyhalothric acid. Cyhalothric acid is converted to cyhalothrin, from which lamdacyhalothrin is prepared. This can be implemented in existing synthetic pyrethroid manufacturing unit
Applications
It is highly potent synthetic pyrethroid with wide spectrum of biological activity and is non-systemic in nature with contact and stomach action and repellent properties. It is very effective for the control of ectoparasites of cattle and good control of insect born plant viruses.
