DST celebrates International Day of Yoga on 21st June, 2018
Introduction
21 st June is observed as International Day of Yoga every year. This practice started in 2015, when at the initiative of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the United Nations General Assembly took a historic decision to declare 21 st June as the International Day of Yoga. The worldwide acceptance of Yoga is a matter of pride for the whole nation, as Yoga is an integral part of our cultural and spiritual heritage.
The Ministry of AYUSH (Nodal Ministry) intends to rope in the Government Servants and other stakeholders of different Ministries/Departments, who are an important target group, into the Yoga Movement. Accordingly, the Department of Science and Technology under Ministry of Science and Technology celebrated International Day of Yoga on 21 st June, 2018, with full vigor and zeal at Technology Bhawan, New Mehrauli Road, New Delhi.
IDY started with Yoga Session at 7:30 AM, based on the Common Yoga Protocol. The other activities included a session each on the Art of Living Happiness Programme, Yoga & Meditation by Brahama Kumaris, a lecture on Impact/benefits of Yoga in day-to-day life and Sahaj Yoga. The day culminated with a session on Stress Management.
The sessions witnessed enthusiastic participation by the Officers/Officials of the Department.
