Science Express with its Theme as Climate Change is Traversing the Nation now
Introduction
The Science Express special train with its theme in the current phase as “Climate Change” will be covering the major cities of India and the train will cover 64 cities in 20 states as per the feasibility given by the Indian Railways. The train is now on its journey now.
Science Express is a flagship initiative of the Department of Science & Technology, Govt of India for popularising science across India. It is a unique mobile science exhibition mounted on a 16-coach, AC train, travelling across India since 2007. During the last eight years, Science Express has extensively covered different areas across India, wherever broad-gauge rail tracks are available and halt is feasible. During its entire journey since the launch of its 1st phase on 30 October 2007, it has so far covered 1,26,000 km with 405 halts across India.
It is a proposed to cover major cities of 20 more States which includes Gujarat, Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
