Introduction

Shri V.Narayanasamy, Hon’ble Minister of State for Planning, Parliamentary Affairs and Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions today distributed trophies to the prize winning students/vidyalayas for their meritorious performances in the 23rd National Youth Parliament Competition 2010-2011 for Kendriya Vidyalays. Sh. V.Narayanasamy complemented the Kendriya Vidyala Sanghathan for being a vibrant institution and inculcating good leadership qualities, spirit of self discipline and tolerance of diverse opinions - the hallmarks of democracy.

On this occasion, the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2, CRPF, Bhubaneswar, Orissa presented a short sitting of their prize winning “Youth Parliament”. The Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru running trophy was presented to the school by the Hon’ble Minister Sh. V.Narayanasamy.

The Kendriya Vidyalayas which received Trophies for standing first in their respective zones included Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, AFS, Agra; Kendriya Vidyalaya Berhampore; Kendriya Vidyalaya CLRI, Chennai; Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2, Eklingarh and Kendriya Vidyalaya Rangapuri, New Delhi. At the regional level Kendriya Vidyalaya Panvel; Kendriya Vidyalaya IOC, Noonmati; Kendriya Vidyalaya Mughalasarai, Chandauli; Kendriya Vidyalaya Keltron Nagar; Kendriya Vidyalaya Lumding; Kendriya Vidyalaya Ahmedabad Cantt.; Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sec. 31, Chandigarh; Kendriya Vidyalaya No,1, Amritsar; Kendriya Vidyalaya FRI, Dehradun; Kendriya Vidyalaya Engg. College Road, Ujjain; Kendriya Vidyalaya No.1, Vijayawada and Kendriya Vidyalaya Dongargarh were awarded.

From a modest beginning in 1966 when the first competition was organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs in 16 schools of the Delhi Administration, the Youth Parliament Scheme now covers 1200 schools in NCT of Delhi, 1200 Kendriya Vidyalayas, 600 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and 300 Universities/Colleges all over country. Students and teachers of the winning vidyalayas, Secretary Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Smt. Usha Mathur and other senior officials of the Ministry were present at the prize distribution function today.
