Introduction

Dr.Ashwani Kumar, Minister of State for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences and Planning and Japanese Senior Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Mr.Seishu Makiano discussed about bio-technology, nanotechnology and life sciences projects. Dr Ashwani Kumar who is on an official visit to Japan met Mr.Seishu Makiano yesterday at Tokyo. He informed that besides this the Japanese Government is ready and willing to encourage Japanese investment in all sectors of the Indian economy particularly in infrastructure development, bio-technology, nanotechnology, life sciences, supercomputing, environmental and water conservation in addition to automobile sector.

They also exchanged information about the progress of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project whose estimated cost is 90 billion US$. Both ministers agreed that time has come for building on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the two countries which has come into force in August this year.
