Solar PV Power Plant

Introduction

Power supply in most of our cities and towns is unreliable, forcing people to use small generators based on kerosene, petrol or diesel Such generators cause pollution. noise and lead to increased dependence on oil imports. It has been established that small photovoltaic systems generators) in the capacity range of 200-600 watts can be economically viable in comparison to petrol generators of 500-600 watts capacity.

The solar generators scheme s aimed at encouraging small shopkeepers. doctors nursing homes and other establishments to install solar generators Detailed specifications of the solar generators will be drawn up and manufacturers will be a to submit their samples for testing by the Solar Energy Centre (SEC) / Other Authorized Test Centers (OATC5) Solar Generators which are type tested can be marketed under the scheme through state nodal agencies.

A subsidy of 40% with an upper limit of Rs. 40,000 will be provided on each generator There will be four models of solar generators, depending upon their PV panel capacity & other related features as given below

Models of Solar Generators

Model

PV Capacity

Estimates Cost

Model - I 150 Wp Rs. 45,000/-
Model - II 300 Wp Rs. 90,000/-
Model - III 450 Wp Rs. 1,35,000/-
Model - IV 9000 Wp Rs. 1,80,000/-

Users will also be eligible for loans on the balance cost of the solar generators. under the new interest subsidy scheme introduced for SPV market development during the current year.

Initially a pilot programme may be taken up in a cost effective and transparent manner under which each eligible manufacture will be allowed to implement one pilot project in a shopping commercial area of any city and offer the benefit of subsidy and soft loans to the user The subsidy n respect of such pilot projects wilt be released directly by MNES to the manufactures ensuring necessary financial safeguards. who will also be required to provide necessary warranties and after sates service of at least five years Each pilot project may coger 50-100 generators and will be sanctioned on the basis of concrete proposals received re manufacturers.
