Application/Use

For filtration of turbid water from pond, lake, river etc. to get clean drinking water.


Salient Features of Process/Technology

The burnt clay disc, named 'Terafil' can be fabricated by a village potter using red clay, sand, raw dust and the potter's kiln.

It is fitted at the bottom of a suitable domestic water pot or chamber. The raw water with turbidity upto 100 NTU is filled into the container while filtered clean water is collected at the bottom @21/hr. The quality of filtered water meets BIS and WHO standards. The Terafil disc costs about Rs.30 and can be used upto 5 years.
