Salient Features of Process/Technology

One unskilled person of 60 kg wt can irrigate about 2000 m2 of land in 8 hr. It does not require any electric power. A pump of length 875 mm, width 490 mm, height 575 mm weights about 35 kg and ca be easily transported by 2 persons.


Status of Commercialisation

Commercialised.


Minimum Economic Unit Size

Water discharge 7,000 L/hr, operational cost Rs. 100/day of 8 hr shift.


Approx cost of unit

Rs. 2,000.

Pedal pump fabricated as per
CSIR design using welding set, lathe, drill and hand tools.


Raw Materials

Mild steel and rubber tube of truck.
