Timolol is used for treating glaucoma and in ocular hypertension  

Salient Technical Features

 

CSIR-IICT has optimized the process for the synthesis of T imolol by following inventors route. D Mannitol has been used as a chiral pool material and IICT has optimized six out of the seven steps of the commercial process.

 

Scale of Development

 

•  CSIR-IICT has developed the process for T imolol on bench scale (4.0 g)

 

Status of Commercialization

 

•  Process is ready for demo and can be scaled up for commercial plant

 

Major Raw Materials to be Utilized

 

•  Mannitol diacetonide, morpholine 3,4-dichloro-1,2,5-thiadiazole
