Introduction

The Central Council for Ayurveda & Siddha, under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has developed the the technology for above preparation Bala Rasayana for strengthening of the body and general immunity of the children Constituents: Asparagus Racemosus willd.(Shatavari Root)Emblica Officinalis Gaertn. (Amalki Phal Maja)Tinospora Cordifolia willd(Miers,Guduchi)Phyllanthus Niruri Hook.f/urinaria Linn.(Bhui Amalki)Centella Asiatica L.urban (Maduk Parni)Calcined shell of Oyster Pearl(Mukta Shukti Bhasam) Sida Cordifolia Linn.(Bala)


Clinical Trials

A clinical study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of pushkara guggulu in different patients of CHD with a dose of 6 gram per day in divided doses. There was significant fall in lipid profile besides clinical improvement and ECG changes. One hundred fifty patients of coronary heart disease with objective evidence of ischemic changes in ECG and exertional angina were treated with Puskara guggulu powder for a period of 6 months or total dose level of 6-8 g per day in divided doses. Cholesterol, triglycerides and total lipids were estimated at baseline before initiating the treatment and at the end of first, third and six months subsequently. Highly significant difference in all three lipid components was observed from 1st month onwards indicating most efficacious lipid lowering activity of the combined drug treatment. Mechanism of action in anieliorating symptoms and improving functional status of coronary heart disease patients has been considered.


Process

Powder the above materials to 100 mesh powder in the prescribed proportion alongwith some additives like starch, gum acacia, etc. and sodium benzoate. Powder & additives are fed into a ball mill for uniform mixing and fine grinding. The mass is then granulated. The granules are dried at 70oC in a hot air drier. The granules of the desired size are fed to a heavy duty tablets making machine. The tablets each containing 250 mg were prepared. are strip packed to protect them from the atmospheric moisture.
