Technology Description

Insulin Delivery Smart Skin Patch consisting of drug reservoir, painless microneedles and a micropump assembled on the customized bandage platform.

Diabetes is becoming a health hazard on the global level. The innovation aims to address the market gap of insulin delivery devices where only low end (syringes) and high end products (insulin pumps) are available. The innovation integrates the precision of insulin delivery better than the pumps and is painless unlike the hypodermic syringes. The patch application is quite simple eliminating the need of any training or medical staff. It comes at an affordable cost and is biocompatible leading to lesser skin irritations. The device is ten times smaller in size than the insulin pump and integrates a patch of painless microneedles. With an average of a diabetic person spending around INR 45000 in a year for diabetes treatment and lack of midrange product in the market, mass scale business opportunities are there for this smart skin patch for insulin delivery.
