Ozone Monitor

Introduction

 

 

BARC has developed an ozone monitor for measuring ozone concentrations at ppb levels (10-9 v/v ratio) in the ambient atmosphere. It is based on chemiluminescent reaction of ozone with ethylene supplied from a cylinder. Light produced in this reaction in the region of 300-500 nm is measured by a sensitive photomultiplier tube and the signal is processed and displaced on the meter and recorded by a recorder or data processor. Light produced in the reaction is specific to ozone and other pollutants do not interfere.

Applications

 

Ozone monitor can be used for measuring ambient levels of ozone in polluted urban atmospheres and near high voltage power distribution centres.
