Introduction

A national research organisation is offering a technology for biogas plant based on eucalyptus leaves. This is a floating gas holder type plant. It consists of a circular digester, gas holder, the feed inlet which opens at the bottom of the digester and outlet provided near the top of the digester. Stirrers are provided for stirring and scum breaking. Soaking chambers are required to soak the leaves prior to feeding into the digester. The biogas production rate is 0.2 litre/digester volume and yield is 145 litres/kg of naturally dried leaves. The methane in biogas is 70-75%.
