Introduction

A national research organisation is offering technology for biphasic biogas system based on agricultural residues. A biphasic system consists of an open batch acid reactor and an anaerobic filter reactor. The acid reactor is fabricated with mild steel plate. A wire mesh is provided at the bottom to support solid bed of agricultural wastes. The bottom of the reactor is a hopper and an outlet is provided to drain out acid rich liquid. Mathane reactor is constructed of prefabricated reinforced concrete pipe. To support the packing medias and to distribute the flow of influent, a dispersion plate is provided above the bottom of the reactor. Brickbats are used as packing media to support the growth of methanogenic bacteria.

Marketing of the manufactured product

Marketing should be done by the licensee.

Biogas

This technology is suitable for the utilisation of vegetable and fruit waste availavle in agricultural products markets. The prospective users are APMC (Agriculture Product Market committee), large farmers and orchard owners. Fuel gas (Biogas) is ideal for thermal and engine applications. The techology is ready for field testing.
