Picoammeter

Introduction

A national research organisation is offering a technology for picoammeter for measuring very low leakage current of semiconductor devices, insulating materials and photo detectors. It has four input ranges selectable through front panel switch. The readings are obtained on 3 1/2 digit display.

First stage of the Picoammater is a current to voltage converter. The signal is then passed through a low pass filter and digitised to get better than 14 bits accuracy. This consitutes the core of the Picoammeter and it is implemented on one card alongwith 7 segment display drive logic. GPIB interface is realised in a second card. Dimensions of the cards are 5.9" x 6.5". The circuit requires +5V and 15V power supplies which are derived from 230V1 operated single power module of size 170 mm x 85 mm x 58 mm.
